Why am I doing so little damage per shot on auto-attack on my hornbow, compared to the longbow?

That was my first thought.

I was fighting in Varajar Fells, centaurs and minotaurs.
Then I did the Zaishen Bounty (Justicar Thormis) fighting Summit.

Also just learned that bows make different sounds depending on what prefix mod it has ;-) Pretty cool.
But I suppose the person above is right, must be the enemies armor rating.

Also just a brief calculation:

If you were to do 28 physical damage to a modniir it would deal 14 actual damage, but if it was elemental damage it would do 19-20 damage. (I think, if I have read this table correctly: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor...g#Armor_tables

Hornbows have innate 10% armor penetration.

The other is Hornbow as he mentioned which has 10% Armor Penetration.
The other Bow does not have 20/20 mod unlike the other.
The other Bow is customized which adds 20% Base Damage.
The other Bow has Icy string attached which affects the Damage depending on the foe

Surprised so many people are not getting it. The one with the advantages (customised, lower req, armour piercing) is the one doing less. Only other significant difference is the elemental bow string.

CoolName up above probably got the main reason, that being the enemies they were used against were warrior-based class that have innately more armor vs physical damage than elemental. Used vs a Ranger-class enemy, I'm sure the results would be opposite (even without customization and armorpen attribute).

I don't normally play physical classes, so I'm not used to the fact physicals have extra armor vs physical.

Was a bit sad about the little damage, because I fell in love with that new bow :P ... (❤3 ❤)
